I just wanted everyone to know...

I have been accepted into the Paramedic Program at Portage College. It starts in January 2009, and I am very excited that I will be spending the next two years furthering my education.. and a little scared.

I am the oldest student, and in fact, am old enough to be the parent of most of the students. Although I teach at the EMR and EMT level (EMT-B and EMT-I for those of you in the US) and have worked hard to maintain my knowledge and skills, this is a big and exciting step for me.

Any advice is appreciated!

Congrats. One of the most important aspects to know as a paramedic is a complete in depth understanding of the various forms of shock. If you understand it you will have no problems understanding what is taking place in any serious illness or injury scenario in school and will better treat your patients in the field.
